Liverpool watches as Man City learns the Premier League hearing’s verdict.

The Premier League’s 19 other teams, including Liverpool, will “soon” discover if Manchester City has been successful in abolishing the Associated Party Transaction (ATP) restrictions.

The Etihad team filed a lawsuit against the Premier League earlier this year, claiming the APT regulations were unsuitable and asking for damages.

In response to the Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle United, legislation was introduced at the end of 2021 to make sure teams were prohibited from entering into inflated commercial agreements with corporations associated with their ownership.

The Times revealed in June that City felt the regulations were put in place to try and impede the Premier League success the team has seen on the pitch since Pep Guardiola took over in 2016.

A ruling on City’s two-week private arbitration tribunal against the regulations earlier this year will shortly be made public, according to Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom.

The 54-year-old businessman did concede, though, that a City victory would not be “helpful” for the top division of English football. “That has gone to arbitration, and we will shortly receive a decision on that, so I don’t want to talk about it too much. Earlier this month, Bloom stated to The Athletic, “We [Brighton] are outsiders.”

Legally, each club is capable of doing such. Although I don’t think it’s good for the Premier League’s reputation, these things do happen. We must wait and see how the legal system plays out. Although I don’t think losing the case will help the Premier League, we will soon learn the result.”

An independent commission will also hear the Premier League’s 115 allegations against Manchester City this month. It’s anticipated that the hearing would take over three months.
