Adil Aouchiche from Sunderland has been loaned to Pompey.
Subject to FA and EFL approval, the French forward has agreed to a contract at Fratton Park for the second half of the season.
The 22-year-old is thought to be the player who can give more depth and quality to the last third of the field as John Mousinho’s team tries to stay in the Championship.
There were concerns today that the trade would not be completed, with a deal reached between the two teams.
That had to do with the Home Office’s loosened Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) requirements for foreign players, but those problems have been fixed, so the deal may now be finalized.
This season, Aouchiche has made ten appearances for Sunderland, the high-flying Championship team, and has scored twice in 38 games. Among them was a start in the Black Cats’ January 5 victory of 1-1 at the Stadium of Light.
Following the completion of a deal for Cohen Bramall of Rotherham, the former Paris St. Germain player becomes Pompey’s sixth January acquisition and second acquisition of the day.
The Blues’ other acquisitions this month include permanent Australians Hayden Matthews and Thomas Waddingham, as well as loanees Rob Atkinson and Isaac Hayden.
