Randy Waldrum, the Super Falcons’ head coach, is certain that his team will perform well at the 2024 Olympic Games, despite being drawn in a difficult group.
The West Africans are in Group C, alongside Brazil, former world champions Japan, and reigning world champions Spain. Waldrum unveiled his squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Thursday. The Super Falcons qualified from a tough group that included reigning Olympic champions Canada and Australia.
The American is certain that his men will replicate their performance in Australia and New Zealand at the Olympics. “I think this one could be a special group,” Waldrum told ESPN. “We’ve shown our quality against some of the best teams in the world at the World Cup and hopefully, we’ll do the same at the Olympics.” The Super Falcons will face Brazil in their opening game on July 25 at Stade Bordeaux, followed by Spain on July 28 and Japan in their final group game on July 31.
