A couple of Wolves loanees greatly impressed in their final game of the season, with one player being given a 9/10 for his display. Wanderers have a lot of players out on loan at the moment, and Gary O’Neil will definitely be taking a look at some of them this summer when pre-season starts again.
Supporters are expecting the team will have a prosperous summer in terms of the transfer market. But it’s possible we could be seeing some players who have been out on loan this term coming back into the fold. One potential first-team possibility that has been floated is Yerson Mosquera. O’Neil has already suggested he wants to involve him in the first-team. O’Neill might also turn to Wolves’ winger Chiquinho, who had a fantastic season towards the end of 2021–2022.
Local media praise Wolves duo Luke Cundle and Ki-Jana Hoever after their final loan appearances for Stoke, but two others may have given the manager something to think about after they impressed yesterday in their final appearance of the season.
It was the last day of Championship season. In the play-offs, Leeds United, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, and Norwich City will square off against each other. Leicester City and Ipswich Town have secured automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City, and Rotherham United have all been demoted. Stoke City, who had Ki-Jana Hoever and Luke Cundle on loan from Wolves this season, finished comfortably in 17th position. Hoever joined the Potters during the latter part of the previous season and went back for a second stint. Prior to moving to Stoke in January, Cundle began the season on loan at Plymouth Argyle. In their last-season match, Stoke hosted Bristol City, and they went out on top, defeating the Robins 4-0.
The Wolves boys also gave really strong performances. Following the game, the Stoke Sentinel rated the players, and Hoever received an 8 out of 10. “Ending the season like a train and forming a stellar attacking partnership with Manhoef down the right,” was what they had to say about him. One more help.
But Cundle was truly exceptional. With a score of 9/10, he tied for the highest rating of any player. “Energy, skill and commitment and his one-touch play and movement was integral to how Stoke were able to attack with speed,” the 22-year-old was described as having.
Maybe there’s a chance for Hoever at Wolves. With 80 Championship appearances between them this season, Hoever and Cundle may be happy with their respective seasons after having a great season finale.
It will be intriguing to observe what the two of them have planned for this summer. Given how fierce the battle is right now for spots in that department, you would think that Wolves would want to take advantage of Cundle. It was rumored in January, right before Cundle moved to Stoke, that Wolves was genuinely thinking of selling him for £2 million. Hoever might be able to return to Wolves.
