Rangers are “poised to complete” a deal with Aberdeen to bring midfielder Connor Barron to Ibrox this summer, according to Christopher Jack. On June 19, the well-connected journalist wrote in Rangers Review that the Gers had won the race to recruit the 21-year-old midfielder. Philippe Clement was eager to bring the excellent midfielder to Ibrox as he attempts to overhaul his squad for the upcoming season.
Rangers overcame England and Italy to sign the Scotland Under-21 international on a free transfer. Barron is expected to become the fourth player to join Ibrox this summer, and the Bears are now working to formalize the agreement before returning to pre-season training on Monday.

Clement needed to bolster the squad this summer after the Gers finished behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season.
The Rangers manager has previously offloaded older players such as John Lundstram and Ryan Jack, and he is aiming to fill the vacuum with young, promising players with future resale potential. Clement has already signed three players this summer, with Jefte, Oscar Cortes, and Clinton Nsiala joining Ibrox.
Barron is now expected to become their fourth signing, and a deal appears to be close to completion. Rangers will most likely have to pay Aberdeen a fee in the form of training compensation, or face a tribunal. A number of clubs, including Hellas Verona, Plymouth, Stoke, Cardiff, and Swansea, expressed interest in Barron, but Rangers deserves credit for jumping ahead of the competition.
The Gers made an improved offer to the midfielder last week, and it appears that it is just a matter of time before he has his medical at Ibrox. Clement’s side is also seeking for a new goalkeeper this summer, and they are confident in landing Liam Kelly from Motherwell.
