Aston Villa are eyeing two major signings this summer as Unai Emery looks to build a stronger squad for next season after narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification.
The first target is 19-year-old winger Jesús Rodríguez from Real Betis. He made 21 La Liga appearances last season and impressed on both wings. Fabrizio Romano reports that Villa have initiated talks with Betis to sign the talented youngster.
Villa are also interested in Raoul Bellanova, Atalanta’s 25-year-old right-back. With nine assists in Serie A last season, he has attracted attention from multiple Premier League clubs, including Fulham and West Ham. However, Villa’s higher league standing may give them an edge. Bellanova is valued at around €40 million.
Despite these ambitions, Villa may need to sell players to stay within Profit and Sustainability Rules after missing out on Champions League revenue. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire warns that Villa’s wage bill is dangerously close to UEFA’s 70% revenue threshold, making financial caution essential moving forward.
