Sven Botman reacts as a player announces he is quitting his club due to interest from Newcastle United.

A talented midfielder who has also been linked to a move to Tottenham Hotspur has made a choice regarding his future, Newcastle United has been informed. The Magpies are keen to include further.

After three transfer windows, the Magpies are keen to bolster their roster without adding players to their starting lineup. Paul Mitchell, the Sporting director, joined the team last summer, although he hasn’t yet demonstrated his abilities in the transfer market.

The need to buy players is significantly bigger than it was in past transfer windows because Newcastle United will host European evenings again next season. However, the kind of player they sign will depend on the competition they participate in. Although Newcastle is expected to place in the Premier League’s Champions League, they might yet fall outside of the top five and wind up in the Conference League or perhaps the Europa League. Necastle will acquire younger players to assist them in the second or third division if they are unable to make it to the Champions League.

However, Newcastle’s Champions League standing will allow them to sign more well-known players this summer. One player who has been linked to a transfer to Tyneside has finally made up his mind about his future, which Newcastle supporters are eager to see.

Angel Gomes, a Newcastle United target, confirms Lille’s departure.

After making a significant decision over his future, Lille midfielder Angel Gomes appears to be considering a return to England. Gomes has already tasted life in the Premier League with Manchester United. Gomes has been linked to a free transfer to Newcastle this summer, but he has requested that the Magpies pay him more than £100,000 per week. It has been confirmed that the 24-year-old will be leaving Lille this summer to pursue his career elsewhere, despite having already turned down a move to West Ham this summer.

“It’s time for me to say goodbye after four incredible years at LOSC Lille,” Gomes wrote in a message on his Instagram account. In addition to being a team, this club has been a home, a family, and a place that has influenced me both on and off the field. There were highs and lows, as with any journey, but I sincerely appreciate my teammates and the supporters’ support during it all. I’m grateful for every second and proud of what we accomplished together. I want to express my gratitude to the fans for their incredible support and belief in me. I will always be appreciative. For the badge and all of you, I always gave it my all.

Sven Botman, a former teammate and Newcastle defender, said, “Myy broskii,” after seeing the post.

Newcastle has previously played alongside a number of Newcastle United players.

Gomes has not yet chosen his future team, despite suggestions earlier in 2025 that he had turned down Newcastle for Tottenham. Gomes’ prior international experience playing with a number of Toon stars is a plus for Newcastle. In 2024, Gomes received his first England call-up from Lee Carsley and played with Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall, and Tino Livramento of Newcastle.

Despite being spurned by Thomas Tuchel in March, Gomes will be in line for further England caps when the German picks his squad for the forthcoming internationals against Andorra and Senegal. Joining Gomes in England’s squad might be Jacob Murphy, who has had a wonderful season and is said to be in Tuchel’s thinking for the next set of international games.
