Tindall says Howe will return once he’s fully ready.

There is no set timeline for Eddie Howe’s return to Newcastle, but assistant Jason Tindall stated the manager will return once he’s “100% ready.”

Eddie Howe was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia on Friday and missed Newcastle’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday. He will also be absent for the upcoming matches against Crystal Palace on Wednesday and Aston Villa on Saturday. During this time, assistant coach Jason Tindall and coach Graeme Jones will continue to manage the team.

Tindall shared that there has been limited communication with Howe since the hospitalization, stating, “We’ve had minimal dialogue together since that announcement.” However, he reassured fans that Howe is receiving the best care possible and will return once he is fully ready to lead the team.

The win against Manchester United was a significant boost for Newcastle’s Champions League hopes, placing them just one point behind third-placed Nottingham Forest in the Premier League with seven games remaining. The players, including captain Bruno Guimaraes and match-winner Harvey Barnes, dedicated the victory to Howe, expressing a desire to “put a smile on his face.”

Howe, who has managed Newcastle since November 2021, led the club to its first domestic trophy in 70 years, securing the Carabao Cup with a victory over Liverpool in March.

Tindall mentioned that he hadn’t discussed the team’s preparation with Howe but expressed confidence in managing the team through this critical period. “We know the expectations and demands we put on each other, and we must maintain that until the manager returns,” Tindall said. “We know what we need to do to deliver performances that the manager would be proud of.”

He emphasized that it is part of his responsibility to guide the team in Howe’s absence, adding, “We’ve worked together for 17 years, so we know what is expected of each other, and I’ll do my best to deliver the same messages Howe would.”
