Southampton’s search for a new manager is heating up after Ivan Juric was dismissed earlier this week. The Croatian’s exit followed a heavy loss to Tottenham that confirmed Southampton’s relegation — the earliest in Premier League history, with seven games still remaining.
According to The Sun, club officials have narrowed their shortlist to three candidates. While Danny Rohl and Liam Rosenior are known contenders, there’s also mention of a third, unnamed coach — someone with experience in English football. This follows Southampton’s failed gamble on Juric, who lacked familiarity with the English game.
Rohl is currently the frontrunner after an impressive season at Sheffield Wednesday. Rosenior, now at Strasbourg, has also impressed by pushing the club close to Champions League qualification. However, Rosenior’s availability may depend on Strasbourg’s European commitments, and Rohl’s appointment could be complicated by a release clause reportedly worth £4 million — potentially lower if negotiated by another Championship club.
With technical director Johannes Spors leading the search since February, Southampton had considered up to 10 names. Now, the decision lies between Rohl, Rosenior, and a mystery candidate, as the Saints aim for a quick rebound with someone familiar with English football.
