Fulham manager Marco Silva believes Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton should have been sent off in their 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat on Saturday.
Wharton, who recently earned a spot in England’s U21 squad, was booked early for a foul on Willian. Minutes later, Rodrigo Muniz went down, appearing to claim that Wharton had kicked out at him.
However, referee Darren England dismissed any calls for a second booking, and Palace went on to secure a dominant win.
“For me, it is clear—it’s a second yellow card,” Silva told ITV.
“We are used to these kinds of situations. I prefer to say we are unlucky, but it has been a long story with us.
“Of course, VAR cannot intervene in this case, but there are many eyes on the pitch—the linesman, the fourth official. It was definitely a clear second yellow.
“That decision would have changed the game, but for us, these things always seem harder to get. We’ve been unlucky, and hopefully, things will balance out in the end.”
