Crystal Palace fire back at Lampard over Everton remarks.

Everton dismissed Frank Lampard in 2023 following a disappointing run at Goodison Park.

Crystal Palace have aimed a cheeky dig at Frank Lampard, two years after his exit from Everton, as they gear up for an FA Cup quarter-final clash.

Lampard, who played a key role in Everton’s dramatic survival win over Palace in 2022, was eventually sacked and replaced by Sean Dyche. However, his post-match comments following a 4-0 FA Cup loss to Palace that year have not been forgotten by the South London club.

After that heavy defeat, Lampard criticized his team, stating they played at “70 percent,” and dismissed the goals conceded as “a corner, an average goal, a fluke goal, and another average goal.” In response, Crystal Palace recently uploaded match highlights on YouTube with that exact phrase as the title—taking a playful swipe at the former Everton boss.

While Lampard’s comments may have been made in frustration, the stats from that match showed Everton had a competitive game, but Palace were simply more clinical. Regardless, the ex-Chelsea manager has since moved on, now finding success with Coventry City.
