Manchester United and Bayern Munich have reportedly learned RB Leipzig’s asking price for rising star Xavi Simons.
Xavi Simons’ Future in Focus as RB Leipzig Set €80m Asking Price
Xavi Simons, the 21-year-old Dutch sensation, joined RB Leipzig permanently in January after an 18-month loan from Paris Saint-Germain. The deal, worth an initial €50m (£42.1m) with potential add-ons rising to €81m (£67m), has seen Simons become a key player for the Bundesliga side. In 68 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 18 goals and provided 19 assists, including 10 goals and 14 assists last season alone.
Despite battling an ankle injury this term, Simons has still managed eight goals and five assists in 25 games. After signing a contract extension until 2027, he expressed feeling “extremely at home” and “honoured by the appreciation” shown by Leipzig. However, recent reports suggest Simons could be open to a move to the Premier League or La Liga in the near future.
Interest from Man United, Bayern Munich, and Others
Manchester United, who showed interest in Simons last summer under Erik ten Hag, remain keen on the versatile attacker. Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, along with Arsenal and Liverpool, have also been linked. Bayern reportedly see Simons as a potential alternative to Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
According to Sky Deutschland’s Philipp Hinze, Leipzig have set an €80m price tag for Simons if he decides to leave this summer. While a summer exit is “possible,” Leipzig are also open to keeping him, especially if they secure Champions League qualification. Currently fifth in the Bundesliga, Leipzig are three points off the top four with eight games left.
Simons’ potential departure could also influence the futures of other Leipzig stars like Benjamin Sesko, Lois Openda, and Castello Lukeba, who have attracted interest from top clubs, including Man United and Arsenal.
