Rangers have already identified those players they hope to bring to Ibrox before the end of the transfer window.

Before the transfer market closes, Rangers have already decided which players they want to bring to Ibrox. But since the team’s active pursuits are expected to be intense this summer, Rangers’ attention has turned to finding a way to pay the players who are already clogging up the roster.

This summer, the Rangers hiring board was given the explicit directive to reorganize the team’s roster while maintaining its competitiveness on the domestic and European stages. Rangers have reason for optimism thus far, but there is still much work to be done as they move toward the transfer window and increased squad stability. Many factors affect Rangers’ aspirations going forward, with the departure of three players in particular expected to increase the club’s transfer flexibility.

Rangers set to sell Ibrox trio
Heading the list of those squad players set to leave Rangers is Ecuadorean midfielder Jose Cifuentes.

Cifuentes signed for Rangers from LAFC last summer but struggled to adapt to life in Scotland and was farmed out on loan to Brazil and Cruzeiro in January.

Cifuentes is currently getting close to moving to Greece and Aris Thessaloniki after that loan stint failed to produce any significant benefits. According to numerous reports circulating in Greece, Rangers has reached a binding loan-to-buy agreement worth €5 million (£4.2 million), which will enable the club to make a significant profit on the 25-year-old by the summer. Additionally, Rangers hope to sell Todd Cantwell, a wanted midfield player. The 26-year-old’s time at Ibrox is over, as Turkish team Trabzonspor traveled to see the former star of Norwich City last week.

Rangers are eyeing a seven-figure profit on Todd Cantwell with any transfer fee set to be reinvested into the squad before the window closes.

Ianis Hagi – who popped up with a hat-trick for the Ibrox side’s B team over the weekend – is also expected to be moved on this summer and the situation hasn’t changed.

Hagi has found it harder than expected to strike an exit from Ibrox with Italian giants Fiorentina still very much in the hunt for his signature.

Reports that Rangers are willing to let Hagi leave Ibrox on a free remain unconfirmed with the player still contracted to the Gers until 2026.Philippe Clement was clear surrounding the weekend’s victory over Motherwell that Hagi is set to leave Rangers and nothing has changed in this regard.

Rangers have seen a number of players leave the club this summer, with John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, Jon McLaughlin, Robby McCrorie, Connor Goldson and Sam Lammers already negotiating their exits.

Clement: we know we need new players
Rangers remain on the hunt in a number of key positions in the squad but it’s clear any movement will depend on how quickly names are moved out of the club.

The Ibrox side also stand to bank around £3.7m if they can overcome Dynamo Kiev and reach the Champions League Playoff stages.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the weekend’s victory over Motherwell, Philippe Clement provided a brief transfer update where he referenced the costs attached to the club’s targets.

🔵 “That’s why we fought to get him, there was a lot of teams interested”

Rangers manager Philippe Clement praises the impact of Václav Černý after his winning goal against Motherwell and provides an injury update on Robin Pröpper.
“We need (new players) and we know,” said Clement. “And everybody’s working hard on that.

“To get the right pieces into the building for the right price because we don’t have a wallet which is endless. For sure not.”

Rangers continue to monitor the situation with Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima, who finds himself out of the Premier League club’s squad ahead of the new season.

Links persist to highly-rated Plymouth attacker Morgan Whittaker, who is a long-term target of the Ibrox club’s.

Rangers also remain keen on adding an experienced midfielder to the Ibrox ranks, whilst the club could replace Todd Cantwell with a more advanced playmaker after his exit is confirmed.

Rangers continue to be linked to a number of striker options too, with Cyriel Dessers currently the only fit and firing number nine in the Ibrox ranks.

Reports that the Nigerian international hitman could leave Ibrox have also been rubbished in the player’s homeland.
