Today is a good day:Following James Trafford’s breakthrough, Newcastle United has more good transfer news.

You wait weeks for some good transfer news as a Newcastle United supporter, and then two pieces of news appear at once.

James Trafford, the goalkeeper for Burnley and England, is finally being pursued by Newcastle United, according to a report from Sky Sports this morning. After a trade failed a year ago, the two clubs are allegedly in negotiations for the 22-year-old. According to Sky, Trafford and Nick Pope would contend for the top title the next season. It’s fantastic to see discussions starting on this one since we’ve been anticipating progress for some time.

While I was writing about James Trafford, the Chronicle released an exclusive.

My heart fell when I read the words “EXCLUSIVE” and “Dominic Calvert-Lewin” in a message that appeared from The Chronicle’s WhatsApp stream while I was composing the James Trafford tale. When I read the headline, “Newcastle United have decided not to pursue Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin,” after finishing the Trafford essay, my mood instantly improved. The ongoing connections to Dominic Calvert-Lewin have kept me in a state of perpetual fear since, to me, he is just not worth the trouble, and it always seemed like a plausible possibility.

Newcastle does not currently have Dominic Calvert-Lewin on their want list.

Even bad than his goal-scoring record is his injury record. As one of our readers pointed out, I was being really kind and even a little rude to Wilson when I remarked yesterday that he would feel like a sidestep from Callum Wilson. In sports, things may change quickly, but for now, I’m thrilled Newcastle decided not to pursue the Everton player. He’s not on the list right now, which will get me through the next two weeks, but as the window opens and Newcastle grows more desperate, things could change, according to The Chronicle.
