Departing striker Marcus Harness says his spell at Ipswich Town had a life-changing impact on both him and his family. The 29-year-old left the club earlier this week to join Huddersfield.
Marcus Harness reflected emotionally on his departure from Ipswich Town after the club announced his release on Monday. Later that day, it was confirmed he had signed with League One side Huddersfield Town, now managed by former Ipswich coach Lee Grant.
Posting on Instagram, the 29-year-old forward expressed deep gratitude for his time with the Blues. “All good things have to come to an end, I guess,” he wrote. “I can’t put into words how special my time at Ipswich Town has been and how much it truly means to me.”
Harness credited the club with changing his and his family’s lives, helping him achieve childhood dreams, and proving that anything is possible. He thanked teammates, staff, and fans for their support and said he was proud to have contributed to the club’s recent success.
“I’m glad I could play a small part in bringing back the good times to the club,” he added. “Can’t wait to come back to Portman Road in the future, but as the fan that I am now leaving as.”
Originally from Coventry, Harness joined Ipswich from Portsmouth in 2022 for £750,000. Over two seasons, he made 89 appearances, scored 12 goals, and was part of the squad that earned back-to-back promotions. He spent most of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Derby.
