“Very surprising” is how the midfielder described Newcastle United’s offer, leaping a level in one go.

Baran Yıldız, a central midfielder for Newcastle United, has discussed his surprising move to St. James’ Park with Turkish media.

The 18-year-old signed for the Premier League team from Gençlerbirligi during the past transfer window. The young player was questioned how he felt about receiving such a significant transfer to Newcastle United so early in his career.

Yıldız stated that his first goal was to gain a transfer to a Turkish Super Lig club and that he was taken aback by the move to England. “It seemed unbelievable to me. To be honest, at the age of 18, I didn’t anticipate anything like this. My dream was to play in the Super Lig then depart, but I jumped that level directly. For me, too, it was a pretty unexpected offer,” the midfield player remarked. Yıldız has not yet participated in senior football, however this season he was a member of Gençlerbirligi’s U19 squad. He scored seven goals in 27 games overall, playing in all age groups for the Turkish team.

Given the fight for spots, it appears doubtful that he will have an impact on Newcastle United’s first team before the upcoming season, but a loan move this summer might provide him with much-needed first team experience. He might be loaned to a Turkish team for a season to gather experience, which would eliminate the necessity for a work permit, according to certain rumors.
