Diego Gomez is just beginning his journey at Brighton.
The 22-year-old Paraguay international joined from Inter Miami in January on a four-year deal worth around £12m. Since then, he’s made 16 appearances and impressed with his powerful, skillful style of play.
His standout moment came on the final day of the season with a stunning long-range goal in a 4-1 win over Tottenham.
Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler praised Gomez’s rapid adaptation to Premier League demands, saying:
“He’s shown great individual development and quickly adjusted to the league, culture, and country — which isn’t easy. He’s earned a lot of credit and will keep improving.”
Though mostly used as a substitute so far, Gomez is aiming to cement a regular spot in the squad next season.
He’ll now shift focus to international duty, joining Brighton teammate Julio Enciso for Paraguay’s World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil in June.
