Alexander Isak, a star for Newcastle United, published a statement following the summer decision.

Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United, has left Sweden’s national team roster for the June internationals

Isak will now have to spend the summer resting. He was scheduled to play for Sweden in friendly matches against Hungary and Algeria.

Despite missing the recent trip to Arsenal due to a groin injury, Isak battled back to train last week and played through the pain barrier in the 1-0 loss to Everton.

Alexander Isak has withdrawn from the forthcoming national team training camp, according to a statement from the Swedish Football Association. Gustaf Nilsson of Club Brugge and Jordan Larsson of FC Copenhagen are called up to the national team by coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

After the match Newcastle head coach Howe commented about Isak’s devotion to the black and white cause for the last game and how he’d made it obvious he wanted to play his part in the Champions League quest. Howe stated: “He trained yesterday; in my opinion, it was the day he needed to train in order to be accessible and fit. He hadn’t missed much football; in fact, he had missed a week.

“You lose a little bit of your game’s acuity and suspect that might have been the case whenever a player has missed even that brief period of time. “But he deserves praise because he made himself available, wanted to play, and wanted to change things. He had a number of chances in the game, so I was just extremely thrilled that he was so keen to play.” By adding a new striker this summer, Newcastle hopes to lessen the load on Isak. With Newcastle starting a Champions League campaign and playing a lot more games, United will be looking to add a man who can support the Swedish star.

One possible recruit that has been mentioned is Liam Delap. Callum Wilson’s contract is still up for negotiation, but Newcastle hasn’t ruled out a new agreement either.
