Newcastle’s preseason timetable and plans are described by an insider.

In order to get ready for their return to European competition the following season, Newcastle United will forego a post-season tour this summer in favor of a more meticulously planned 2025 preseason.

Chris Waugh of The Athletic claims that the 2024 trip to Australia, which many club members thought was ill-timed and financially disappointing, won’t happen again. “The rest of the squad will go on immediate holiday, and international players will join their national teams after the season ends,” Waugh said. In order to facilitate greater coordination and player movement between squads, Newcastle will begin their preseason in early July at NUFC’s training facility before traveling to Austria for a training camp. The Under-21s will practice close by. After that, Newcastle will go to East Asia to continue their business growth while upholding their footballing standards. The team will play Tottenham and a local team in South Korea, as well as Arsenal in Singapore.

As has been the case in previous years, a domestic friendly against Celtic has already been set for Glasgow, and further private games are planned before the season starts. Likewise, on the last weekend before the season begins in early August, Newcastle will host a doubleheader at St. James’ Park once more. According to Waugh’s understanding, the program for this summer has been created with greater unity in mind because of the important responsibilities performed by performance director Bunce and new sporting director Paul Mitchell, both of whom were absent last season. Their prior Champions League experience at other teams has aided in creating a program that strikes a mix between commercial commitments and competitive preparation, albeit it remains to be seen if it will be effective for the near-Euro-newbie Magpies.
