Personality matters in player signings — but one of Forest’s top summer targets may have just angered his current club with his online behavior.
Before the January transfer window, Evangelos Marinakis made it clear that team harmony would be a top priority for any new signings. That focus on dressing room chemistry may explain why Nottingham Forest didn’t make any additions at the time.
But come summer, that’s expected to change. Forest plan to spend big, giving Nuno Espirito Santo the tools to build on their push for European football. Still, maintaining a positive atmosphere inside the City Ground will remain a key part of recruitment — and it could influence the club’s stance on one of their main targets.
Douglas Luiz Creates Tension at Juventus
Forest remain heavily linked with Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, who was also on their radar in January. However, recent developments may complicate things. Reports from *Tuttosport* claim Juventus are unhappy with Luiz over comments made during a Twitch livestream.
Before a recent match against Lazio, Luiz joined a live session where he spoke emotionally about his time at Aston Villa. “I miss Aston Villa, guys. I miss playing at Villa Park, I miss everything, it’s always in my heart,” he said — a comment that didn’t go down well in Turin.
Juventus management were reportedly frustrated by Luiz’s remarks, feeling that such issues should be handled privately, not shared publicly on social media.
Luiz Tries to Repair the Damage
In response to the backlash, Luiz took to Instagram to clarify. He reaffirmed his love for Juventus and explained his comments were about nostalgia, not a desire to leave. “I was only referring to the affection for a place where I grew up… not to the desire to return,” he wrote.
Despite his efforts to calm the situation, this controversy might strengthen Juventus’ resolve to move him on this summer. Forest remain in the picture — but only if they include a mandatory purchase clause in any loan deal.
While concerns over Luiz’s attitude may give Forest pause, it’s also clear his move to Juventus hasn’t worked out. Any tension should be weighed against the broader context of a player looking for the right fit.
