Tragedy StrikesHockey Community: Conner Dunn Passes Away in Devastating Accident

July 22, 2009 – April 20, 2025

The brightest stars burnout the fastest… On Sunday, April 20, 2025, Connor was cruelly separated from his family, friends, and community due to an accident at the age of 15. His mother, Melanie Dunn, and father, John Lepage, as well as his adored brother Cash Dunn and devoted grandmother Sheila Dunn (predeceased grandfather Leonard Dunn), will all mourn him forever. He will be missed by many family members, including uncles, aunts, cousins, and close family friends whom he selected to be his family. He was preceded in death by his grandma Joanne Lepage (late Joseph Carbone) and grandfather Randall Lepage (Vivian Thompson).

Connor was an energetic, charismatic force to be reckoned with since the day he was born. Everyone gravitated to him like the sun, anyone in his presence shined bright. Connor had the biggest heart, kindest soul, most giving nature, infectious smile and would always be making others laugh. He would be so happy, yet so astonished, by the impact his absence has had on our community. Part of his charm was that he was not even aware how important he was. He deeply loved his family and his friends. It is heartwarming that he had so many amazing young people in his life, but they now must grow up without him. Those wonderful young people have been trying to care for themselves and Connor’s mom through this, for which she will be ever so grateful. Connor’s family has found comfort through their grief, with the continued presence of Connor’s friends as they visit. His family asks his friends to continue to fill the house with Connor’s spirit.

Connor has a sensitive and thoughtful side beneath his lively demeanour. If he knew a child didn’t have lunch, he would bring a second lunch; if he saw an animal in need of rescue, he would bring it home. If he had been given the opportunity, he would have matured into a magnificent guy capable of assisting many others.

Connor’s passion was sports, and his love of music came in a close second. He loved to entertain and included everyone he met in any gathering, no matter how big or small. During tournaments, he invited all the kids to his hotel room, and at home, he invited everyone to spend the weekend.

The family is appreciative to everyone who has remembered Connor’s life, including coaches, instructors, friends, the Korah Colts family, football family, hockey family, and countless others. Connor was excited to receive his driver’s license, start his first job, and begin the hockey season. We have all been moved and inspired by this young man, and one can only imagine the influence he may have had on the world if he had been given the chance.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Helen Smith. Interment will follow at West Korah Cemetery (Avery Rd & Allen’s Side Rd), where Connor will be buried next to his grandfather. Reception will follow the interment in the Lounge at Northwood Funeral Home.

The family would welcome memorial gifts to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or your choice of charity.
