One of the Chicago Bears’ free-agent signings has made an ideal first impression in the Windy City.
The NFL offseason has been full of change for the Chicago Bears as they enter a new era under head coach Ben Johnson. Among the key moves was signing several veteran free agents to help push for a playoff return, including standout defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. The two-time Pro Bowler inked a three-year, $43.5 million deal and is expected to be a cornerstone of the Bears’ defense moving forward.
Adjusting to a new team can be tough—especially with a passionate fanbase like Chicago’s—but Jarrett has quickly embraced the city and its people. On Tuesday, he threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field and spoke warmly about his early days in the Windy City. “The love (the fans) have shown me and my family has been awesome,” Jarrett said. “It’s a pro city, so I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Jarrett, who spent 10 years with the Atlanta Falcons, brings both experience and production. In 152 games, he’s tallied 267 solo tackles, 36.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. But he’s also committed to making an impact beyond the field. “Grady Jarrett gonna give you everything he got, every day in the community, on the field,” he said, vowing to represent Chicago with pride.
If Jarrett can help end the Bears’ four-year playoff drought, his popularity is sure to grow even further. While FanDuel gives Chicago just +156 odds to make the playoffs, Jarrett’s leadership could be the spark the team needs.
