Heat beat Bulls in play-in after 3 regular-season losses.

Tyler Herro led the Miami Heat to a dominant 109-90 victory over the Chicago Bulls in an Eastern Conference play-in game on Wednesday, scoring 38 points. He was flawless in the first half, hitting all eight of his shots, and finished the game 13-of-19 from the field, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Herro also made 9-of-10 free throws, helping the Heat secure a spot in Friday’s crucial matchup against the Atlanta Hawks.

Miami and Atlanta were evenly matched in the regular season, splitting their four-game series with each team winning twice at home. The winner of Friday’s game will face the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs, with Game 1 scheduled for Sunday in Cleveland.

In addition to Herro’s stellar performance, Andrew Wiggins contributed 20 points and nine rebounds, while Bam Adebayo added 15 points and 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Davion Mitchell chipped in with 15 points and eight assists, and the Heat shot 49.4% from the field.

For the Bulls, Josh Giddey had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Coby White scored 17 points, and Nikola Vucevic added 16 points and 12 boards. However, Chicago struggled with 18 turnovers, giving up 26 points off those mistakes, which ultimately led to their elimination from the postseason.

Herro’s fast start, making all six of his shots in the first quarter, helped Miami take a 39-28 lead by the end of the period. He extended the Heat’s lead to 69-44 in the second quarter before the Bulls made a push in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 13. But Miami responded with a 12-2 run to seal the win, with Herro contributing key points down the stretch.
