West Ham have made a Liverpool player, seeking an Anfield exit, their top summer target.

West Ham are reportedly keen to secure a summer move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Republic of Ireland international considering his future at Anfield.

Liverpool made just two signings last summer: Federico Chiesa from Juventus and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, who returned to the Spanish club on loan. It’s the arrival of Mamardashvili that has Kelleher questioning his long-term role, as he is already second in the pecking order behind Alisson.

Though it’s unclear whether Mamardashvili is intended as competition for Alisson or a potential replacement amid rumors of the Brazilian’s departure, it seems unlikely Kelleher will be Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper in the future.

Earlier this season, Kelleher expressed his desire to play regularly as a number one, stating that while the club made the decision to sign another goalkeeper, his ambition has always been clear. He added that, at times, his decisions are not entirely in his hands.

Reports in November suggested that Kelleher wanted to leave Liverpool unless he was given assurances about his role. Now, according to The Sun, West Ham have made Kelleher their primary transfer target for the summer, with Liverpool willing to let him go for a permanent transfer, setting his price at around £20 million.

The Hammers are particularly interested in signing Kelleher on loan, though they are also exploring other goalkeeper options, including Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale, who is available for the same price.
