Tragic news: Red Bull to discuss Verstappen ‘problem’ with FIA

Max Verstappen qualified seventh for the Bahrain Grand Prix, but might he have done better if not for a problem with his Red Bull RB21?

Helmut Marko has revealed that Max Verstappen was experiencing a problem with his Red Bull during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which the team will raise with the FIA. The Dutchman placed sixth at Sakhir. The Dutchman’s redeeming grace is that championship contender Lando Norris could only finish sixth, despite the superiority of his McLaren MCL39. However, it appears that Verstappen’s RB21 did not fire on all cylinders at the Bahrain International Circuit, something the team will need to explore.

After a few issues in Q2, the four-time world champion experienced “huge braking problems in Q3,” according to Marko, who emphasised Yuki Tsunoda’s performance in the other Red Bull. “Let’s start on a positive note,” the 81-year-old told Sky Sports Germany. “Tsunoda finished in the top 10, but Max wasn’t happy. “He experienced some troubles in Q2 and severe braking issues in Q3. The data reflected this. So far, we have no explanation.
