Everton and Bayer Leverkusen have joined Juventus in the race to sign Feyenoord defender David Hancko, according to reports.
The 27-year-old Slovakian was a top target for Juventus last January as they searched for cover due to injuries to Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal. Hancko’s versatility—being able to play both centre-back and left-back—made him an ideal candidate.
However, Feyenoord demanded at least €30 million for the defender, a price Juventus couldn’t meet mid-season. With Santiago Gimenez already sold to Milan, the Dutch side were reluctant to lose another key player.
Juventus ended up signing Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea and Lloyd Kelly on a loan with obligation to buy. Still, neither is seen as a long-term solution, keeping Hancko firmly on Juve’s radar. Reports suggest Juventus have already reached a personal agreement in principle with the player.
Now, the competition has intensified. Everton have submitted a formal offer to Feyenoord, and Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have also shown interest in the defender.
Hancko has enjoyed a solid season, making 41 appearances, scoring four goals, and delivering four assists, strengthening his appeal to top European clubs.
