West Ham lead race for Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters and have made an offer ahead of his summer free agency, per talkSPORT.
When clubs drop into the Championship, Premier League sides often swoop in to snap up top talents at cut prices. It happened last summer with Burnley, Luton Town, and Sheffield United, and it’s set to happen again with Southampton and possibly Ipswich Town and Leicester City if they face the drop.
Leeds United, pushing for Premier League promotion, are already eyeing a move for Southampton’s number one, Aaron Ramsdale, according to *Football Insider*. Ramsdale, who joined the Saints from Arsenal on Deadline Day last summer, signed a four-year deal, giving the club some negotiation power. However, they won’t have that leverage with another standout player—Kyle Walker-Peters.
West Ham Move for Kyle Walker-Peters
Walker-Peters is out of contract this summer and expected to leave Southampton on a free transfer. According to talkSPORT, West Ham are leading the chase for the 27-year-old defender and have already submitted a contract offer. Manager Graham Potter views him as a versatile asset who can strengthen the Hammers’ backline.
West Ham’s interest doesn’t stop there. The club is also reportedly keeping tabs on Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Ramsdale, and attacking prospect Tyler Dibling—all currently with Southampton.
Walker-Peters, earning around £20k per week, attracted Premier League interest last summer. Former club Tottenham Hotspur, who sold him in 2020, were reportedly considering activating their buy-back clause at the time.
Replacing Walker-Peters Won’t Be Easy
Walker-Peters has been ever-present this season, starting all 29 league games he’s featured in. His ability to play both flanks makes him highly valuable and hard to replace.
