Brighton will be without key defender Jan Paul van Hecke for Saturday’s match against Leicester City due to a suspension.
Van Hecke has been a regular starter for Brighton this season, with 28 starts in 29 appearances. However, he received a red card in last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace after picking up a second yellow for a late challenge on Daichi Kamada. This is his first red card of the season, and he will miss this weekend’s game but will be available for Brighton’s next match against Brentford on April 19.
The suspension is a setback for Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler, who is already dealing with injuries to defenders Tariq Lamptey, Joel Veltman, Adam Webster, and Igor Julio.
Eiran Cashin, who joined Brighton in January for £9 million from Derby County, could step in to replace Van Hecke. Cashin has had a tough start to his Brighton career, particularly in his debut against Aston Villa, but Hurzeler remains confident in supporting him as he adjusts to the team.
