Newcastle United may enter a swap-style deal with Juventus this summer.

Newcastle United are expected to be busy this summer, with major spending likely to strengthen their weak squad.

Several positions in Newcastle United’s squad urgently need reinforcement, while others could use added depth but aren’t immediate concerns.

At the top of the priority list are a right winger and a right-sided defender to support—and eventually replace—Fabian Schär, who just extended his contract.

Newcastle still have Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen on their radar, but both would command high fees. As an alternative, they’re now eyeing Federico Gatti from Juventus, a player they’ve previously been linked with.

According to The Chronicle, Juventus may be forced to sell due to financial constraints, and Newcastle are hoping a £20 million bid could secure Gatti’s services.

That sum conveniently matches what Juventus are expected to pay Newcastle for the permanent signing of Lloyd Kelly. Essentially, the two clubs could agree to a swap-style arrangement where the money stays put and Gatti heads to Tyneside.

Gatti, 26, has made 103 appearances for Juventus since joining in 2022 and is a regular starter. With Sandro Tonali’s influence, Newcastle may have an edge in convincing the Italian international to make the move.

It’s a deal that could benefit both sides—though Newcastle would arguably be getting the better end if they land Gatti for £20 million.
