As the 2025 college football season approaches, ESPN has spotlighted ten teams generating significant interest this spring. Among them, the Clemson Tigers stand out as a program at a pivotal crossroads, aiming to reclaim their championship stature .
Clemson’s recent seasons have been marked by solid performances but have fallen short of their championship aspirations. Central to their resurgence is quarterback Cade Klubnik. Over his first 26 starts under offensive coordinator Garrett Riley, Klubnik showcased efficiency, completing 64% of his passes with 52 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. However, a notable limitation has been the team’s lack of explosive plays, averaging just 10.7 yards per completion, and 9.7 in their seven losses during this span.
A glimpse of heightened offensive potential emerged during Clemson’s College Football Playoff appearance last year. Despite a loss to Texas, Klubnik connected on passes of 30, 29, 28, 27, and 25 yards. Freshman wide receiver T.J. Moore made a significant impact, recording nine receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. Complementing this is fellow blue-chip freshman Bryant Wesco Jr., who averaged 17.3 yards per catch in 2024. Coach Dabo Swinney has noted that Wesco has added 20 pounds this offseason, enhancing his physical presence on the field.
