Eight Brighton players set to exit this summer as £20m Sunderland move looms – verdict on ex-Rangers star

Brighton is set for a summer shake-up, with several departures expected as they reshape their squad.

Currently seventh in the Premier League and chasing European qualification, the Seagulls could part ways with at least eight players, including key squad members. Their FA Cup quarter-final exit to Nottingham Forest now leaves them with nine league games to focus on.

 Players Likely to Leave

Tom McGill: The 25-year-old goalkeeper, recalled from his MK Dons loan due to Jason Steele’s injury, is out of contract this summer and expected to move on.

Tariq Lamptey: Struggling with injuries and behind Joel Veltman in the pecking order, the right-back is out of contract and was previously linked to Ajax. A departure seems likely.

James Milner: The veteran midfielder has battled hamstring issues all season. Unless his fitness improves dramatically, a new playing contract seems unlikely, though a coaching role could be an option.

Simon Adingra: The £20m-rated winger has found game time limited and was linked to Sunderland in January. With his contract running until 2026, he may seek a fresh start elsewhere.

Abdallah Sima: The Senegalese forward, currently on loan at Stade Brest, is set to leave as his contract expires. Injuries have hampered his career, but former club Rangers could reignite their interest.

Valentin Barco: The young Argentine, currently on loan at Strasbourg after a tough stint at Sevilla, could leave permanently if the French club activates their purchase option.

Jeremy Sarmiento: The Ecuadorian winger, on loan at Burnley, is under contract until 2027 but isn’t expected to break into Brighton’s first team. Another loan or permanent move is likely.

Odeluga Offiah: The right-back, currently on loan at Blackpool, is set to evaluate his options, with another move—either temporary or permanent—on the cards.

Major Stars in Demand

Beyond these expected exits, Brighton could also face big-money bids for stars like Joao Pedro, Kaoru Mitoma, Carlos Baleba, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Mitoma and Pedro, in particular, could attract significant interest.

Lamptey’s departure seems inevitable after four injury-hit seasons, while Milner’s future remains uncertain. Adingra’s situation is one to watch—if Mitoma leaves, he may stay and fight for a bigger role.
