With the NFL Draft just a month away, the New York Giants’ plans for the third overall pick remain unclear. Despite signing veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year deal, they also brought in Russell Wilson on a one-year contract, raising questions about their quarterback strategy.
The weeks leading up to the draft will be crucial. Will the Giants target a quarterback like Shedeur Sanders, or do they have other plans? One name generating buzz is two-way superstar Travis Hunter from Colorado—a player many consider a generational talent.
Hunter’s landing spot remains uncertain. The Tennessee Titans, holding the first overall pick, reportedly favor Cam Ward, while the Cleveland Browns, picking second, may also be eyeing a quarterback. If Hunter slips to No. 3, would the Giants take a chance on him? And more importantly, would he be the right fit for Big Blue?
Bleacher Report Sees the Giants as the Best Fit for Hunter
Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report believes the Giants would be the perfect team for Hunter to showcase his skills as both a cornerback and wide receiver. With weapons like Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’Dale Robinson on offense, plus a bolstered secondary featuring Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo, Hunter could be a game-changer.
“The Giants added Paulson Adebo in free agency, but the cornerback corps could still use help. So could the team’s wideouts behind Malik Nabers. This isn’t to say Hunter should be a full-time two-way player. Only that the Giants have a need at both spots he plays,” Davenport wrote.
The Giants finished near the bottom of the league in nearly every offensive category in 2024, and their young secondary struggled throughout the season. While the additions of Adebo and Holland strengthened their defense, bringing in Hunter could take it to another level.
Hunter would also be a dynamic addition to the Giants’ receiving corps, pairing with Nabers to form an electrifying duo. His ability to make plays on both sides of the ball could be exactly what the Giants need.
After proving himself as a dominant force at Colorado, why shouldn’t the Giants take a shot on Hunter at No. 3? Whether it’s Wilson, Winston, or Tommy DeVito throwing him the ball, he could elevate the offense. Meanwhile, with the Giants’ defense finishing last in the league with just five interceptions, Hunter’s ball-hawking skills—evidenced by his nine career picks—could provide an immediate boost.
