Abdul Fatawu Targets Pre-Season Return After Injury

Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu has provided an update on his recovery from a knee ligament injury suffered in November, confirming he is unlikely to play again this season. However, the 21-year-old has vowed to be fully fit for the start of pre-season training this summer.

“I don’t think I’ll play this season, but I’m not in any pain now,” Fatawu said. “I can make different movements with my leg, and I will be ready from day one of pre-season.”

Fatawu’s last appearance for Leicester was in a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on November 10, meaning he has yet to play under current Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy. Van Nistelrooy, who suffered a similar knee injury during his playing career, has been a source of support for Fatawu during his rehabilitation.

“He’s been like a father to me,” Fatawu said. “He talks to me about his own injury and how it made him stronger. He’s shown so much interest in helping me, and I can’t wait to play for him and develop as a footballer.”

Fatawu is eager to contribute next season and is optimistic about working with Van Nistelrooy to reach his full potential.
