Stoke City’s transfer record may be mixed, but this signing has been an undeniable triumph – and it’s no wonder he’s now catching the eye of rival clubs.
Viktor Johansson Attracts Premier League and Serie A Interest
Viktor Johansson’s impressive performances for Stoke City this season have drawn attention from Premier League clubs and Italian side Como. According to Swedish outlet *Sportbladet*, Bournemouth and Como are both pursuing the 26-year-old goalkeeper, with the Serie A team having shown interest during the January transfer window.
Johansson, currently on international duty with Sweden, has been a standout player for Stoke this term, starting all 38 games and keeping 11 clean sheets. Amidst Stoke’s mixed transfer record in recent years, the former Rotherham goalkeeper has been a rare success story and was recently named team captain.
Stoke’s Stance and Relegation Concerns
Stoke have reportedly been “informed” of the interest from both clubs but are reluctant to sell their star player. However, their bargaining position could weaken if the club faces relegation. Mark Robins’ side are just one point above the Championship drop zone, with Derby County closing in.
Johansson joined Stoke last summer on a three-year deal after four successful seasons at Rotherham. Before that, he developed in the youth academies of Aston Villa and Leicester City. As interest grows, Stoke will hope to retain their key player while fighting to secure their Championship status.
