West Ham prepare £17m move for new defender

West Ham are set to bid for Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen this summer.

Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen has caught West Ham’s attention ahead of the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old, who joined the Serie A club from Aarhus in 2023, has become a key figure under manager Kosta Runjaic.

West Ham already have Max Kilman as a regular starter and are set to sign Jean-Clair Todibo permanently, though the Frenchman has struggled to settle at the club.

West Ham seriously considering Kristensen
According to CaughtOffside (13 March), the Hammers are preparing to compete for Kristensen’s signature in a deal worth around £17 million. Scouts have been closely monitoring the Denmark youth international, who has made 16 Serie A appearances this season.

Defensive reinforcements needed at London Stadium
With Konstantinos Mavropanos losing influence and Aaron Cresswell nearing the end of his career, West Ham need fresh defensive options. Vladimir Coufal has also played at centre-back recently, but his future remains uncertain.

If Graham Potter continues using a five-man defense, the club will likely prioritize defensive depth. While Kilman and Todibo have yet to form a solid partnership, they still have the potential to bring stability.

West Ham have several areas to strengthen in the coming months, and while a new defender is on the radar, their biggest need may be a reliable striker.
