Stoke City manager Mark Robins says Bosun Lawal is making progress in his recovery and working towards full fitness.
Stoke City secured Bosun Lawal last summer, but his time at the club has been hampered by a stress fracture in his lower back. The 21-year-old has struggled for game time, making just four appearances this season, three of which came in the Championship.
Providing an update on Lawal’s recovery, manager Mark Robins told StokeOnTrentLive:
“He’s getting better and looks like he’s getting there. But after such a long time out, it takes time to get back to full fitness. He’s a young man with a lot of desire and talent, and he’s working hard to get back into contention.”*
Stoke City are being cautious with his return, ensuring he’s fully ready before reintroducing him to the squad. The club signed Lawal last August on a long-term deal running until 2028, giving him ample time to make an impact. Capable of playing in both midfield and defense, he remains a promising prospect for the Potters.
The Republic of Ireland youth international previously played for St. Kevin’s Boys and Bohemians before joining Watford in 2019. After two years there, he moved to Celtic, where he featured five times for the first team and was a key player for their B team.
As for Stoke, their focus shifts to their upcoming clash against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday following their narrow 3-2 defeat to Coventry City. Whether Lawal will be available for selection remains to be seen.
