Everton’s new owner shakes things up with major changes, including a new CEO.

Everton’s new owner, The Friedkin Group (TFG), is making sweeping changes at the club with key appointments and departures at the top level.

Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear will take over as Everton’s chief executive on June 1, 2025. Kinnear, who has previously held leadership roles at Arsenal and West Ham, replaces Denise Barratt-Baxendale, who left in June 2023 amid fan protests. Colin Chong, the interim CEO, will remain at the club to oversee the completion of the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium and the redevelopment of Goodison Park.

Kevin Thelwell, Everton’s director of football since 2022, will depart at the end of the season. The club is shifting from a single director of football to a broader sporting leadership team under manager David Moyes, who will help shape plans for the summer transfer window.

Additionally, chief commercial and communications officer Richard Kenyon is leaving after 11 years at the club. His responsibilities will be divided among existing staff and new senior hires as part of an executive restructuring.

TFG chairman Marc Watts expressed confidence in the club’s new leadership, praising the contributions of Chong, Thelwell, and Kenyon while emphasizing the group’s ambition for Everton’s future.

Following years of uncertainty under former owner Farhad Moshiri, Everton is stabilizing under TFG’s ownership, which includes addressing financial challenges and planning for the club’s move to their new stadium.

Meanwhile, Everton has confirmed participation in the Premier League Summer Series in the USA, where they will play Manchester United, Bournemouth, and West Ham across three cities from July 26 to August 3.
