Bears emerge as top contender for another elite offensive lineman

Bears continue bolstering offensive line with another top target

The Chicago Bears have been aggressive in upgrading their offensive line this offseason. They started by trading for former Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson, followed by a deal to acquire All-Pro guard Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs. However, their spending spree may not be over just yet.

Chicago Bears expected to target Drew Dalman

Even with these additions, Chicago’s offensive line still needs work, especially at center. Last season, Caleb Williams endured the most sacks in the NFL, and while Coleman Shelton provided stability, he ranked just 19th out of 64 centers graded by Pro Football Focus. For a team aiming for the playoffs under new head coach Ben Johnson, further improvement is necessary.

Reports suggest that the Bears are serious contenders for Atlanta Falcons free-agent center Drew Dalman. He was the fourth-highest graded center by PFF last season and is expected to have a strong market in free agency. While Spotrac initially projected Dalman’s next contract at around $7 million per season, his actual deal could be significantly higher.

If Chicago secures Dalman, they will have transformed their interior line into one of the NFL’s strongest, giving Williams a much-needed boost in protection.
