Fans weren’t happy until the reigning champs brought utility player Kiké Hernández back to the Los Angeles Dodgers, despite the fact that the team signed some of baseball’s biggest stars this summer.
The Dodgers’ perception of the fan favorite throughout his free agency process was disclosed by baseball operations chief Andrew Friedman.
If we were unable to match up with Kiké, we would say, ‘Oh, here’s the next best alternative.’ It wasn’t something for us. The player is usually at the top of your list when addressing a need, followed by others, Friedman explained.
“Kiké or nothing in this instance.”
The Dodgers’ success is largely dependent on Hernández’s adaptability. Even though he might not start every game, he can step in wherever the team needs him. Last season, Hernández started when Freddie Freeman was sidelined.
Hernández filled in at the hot corner as Max Muncy was sidelined by an oblique injury.

Wednesday, Hernández gave a positive update.
“Overall, good day, and even though it’s spring training, it’s always good to get results,” Hernández remarked. “I think I’m doing pretty well right now, and I’m almost ready for the season.”
With five hits and two RBIs in 16 at-bats, Hernández is presently hitting at a.313 clip in the Cactus League. The
utility player hasn’t fielded a ball in several games on defense, but he hopes that streak will soon come to an end.
This spring, Hernández has played a variety of positions and talked about how he adjusts to the switch every game.
“Believing in my muscle memory and the things I’ve been doing for years,” Hernández stated. “I think playing defense is much easier for me than playing offense. No matter where I am, I always want the ball to be hit to me.
Simply maintain your faith and confidence that today’s ground ball will be the same one you’ve been taking for years.
It will remain there even though I haven’t been hit by a ball in a long time.
