Stoke City midfielder Jordan Thompson has expressed his desire to stay at the club beyond this summer, despite his contract expiring in June. The 28-year-old, who has made 18 appearances this season, including 15 in the Championship, emphasized his connection to the club, stating, “This club definitely means a lot to me. I’ve been here a good number of years now, and my wee son is a Stoke fan.”
Thompson, who joined Stoke in 2020 and is now their longest-serving player, has made 170 appearances for the Potters, scoring four goals. While he acknowledged his contract situation, he stressed that his immediate focus is on finishing the season strongly. “I would like to stay at the club. I love being here,” he said. “But that’s got nothing to do with the priority at the moment. I just want to kick on with the football, and those things then take care of themselves.”
Earlier this winter, Thompson was linked with a move to Swedish side AIK, but no deal materialized. His experience and versatility make him a valuable asset for Stoke, providing depth and competition in midfield. As the club prepares for a challenging away game against Coventry City this weekend, Thompson’s future remains uncertain, but his commitment to the team is clear.
