Arsenal have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Benjamin Šeško, the 21-year-old RB Leipzig striker who has been in impressive form this season. With 10 goals and four assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances, Šeško has been a key player for Leipzig, attracting interest from top European clubs, including Arsenal.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Šeško has a €70 million (£57.9 million) release clause in his contract, which can be activated this summer. The clause could rise to €80 million (£66.2 million) if he meets certain performance targets. While Arsenal have long admired Šeško, they face competition from other top English clubs, including Chelsea, though Manchester City are not in the race.
Arsenal had shown interest in Šeško last summer, but the striker chose to extend his stay at Leipzig to focus on his development. Despite missing out, the Gunners have continued to monitor his progress and remain keen on signing him. Chelsea also explored a deal in January, but Leipzig refused to let him go.
Šeško’s agent, Elvis Basanovic, has emphasized the importance of finding the right platform for his client’s development, suggesting that a move to the Premier League was delayed to allow Šeško to mature. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has acknowledged the need for a striker who can make an immediate impact, hinting that Šeško fits the profile they are looking for.
With Leipzig open to a summer sale, Arsenal are well-positioned to secure Šeško’s signature, though competition from Chelsea and other clubs could complicate the deal.
