“Club Brugge star unfazed by Aston Villa challenge – eyes a lucrative bonus instead.”

Club Brugge Star Confident Ahead of Aston Villa Clash

Club Brugge defender Joaquin Seys has dismissed suggestions that playing the first leg of their Champions League tie against Aston Villa at home puts them at a disadvantage. Following Friday’s draw, Seys expressed confidence in his team’s ability to perform, regardless of the fixture order.

The two sides are set to face off next month, with Aston Villa traveling to Brugge for the first leg before hosting the return match at Villa Park a week later. Brugge already have a psychological edge, having defeated Villa 1-0 in the league phase back in November. Since then, the Belgian side has continued to impress, including strong performances against Manchester City, establishing themselves as one of the competition’s surprise packages.

While some argue that playing the second leg at Villa Park gives the Premier League side an advantage, Seys remains unfazed. “I think that, just like against Atalanta, it is not bad that we start at home,” he said. “It is not a handicap. We will be there immediately with the fans behind us, and that way we can perhaps travel to England with a bonus.”

Seys also acknowledged Aston Villa’s strength but emphasized Brugge’s readiness for the challenge. “The opponent didn’t matter much to me. Aston Villa is a strong team, and it will be a nice trip. We will get another chance to prove ourselves against a good club from the Premier League.”

With the support of their home crowd and confidence from their earlier victory, Club Brugge are determined to make their mark once again as they aim to secure a positive result ahead of the decisive second leg.
