“Worse than Morsy: 5/10, one of his poorest games for Ipswich.”

Ipswich Town started brightly at Old Trafford, taking an early lead and raising hopes of a rare Premier League victory on the road. However, despite being reduced to ten men before halftime, Manchester United edged out a chaotic 3-2 win under Ruben Amorim.

While Jaden Philogene-Bidace shone with two goals, several Ipswich players underperformed, frustrating manager Kieran McKenna. Among them, Sam Morsy struggled in midfield, delivering another below-par display.

Sam Morsy’s Difficult Night

Morsy, the veteran captain, was introduced after a brief cameo against Tottenham. However, McKenna may regret that decision. The Egyptian inadvertently gifted United their equalizer, heading a Bruno Fernandes free-kick into his own net.

Beyond that mistake, Morsy contributed little in attack, failing to register a shot or complete a dribble. He won just four duels before being substituted in the 66th minute for Jack Taylor.

His lackluster display was part of a broader issue, as another Ipswich player endured arguably his worst performance yet.

Delap’s Struggles in Front of Goal

Unlike Philogene-Bidace, Ipswich’s attacking threat was missing elsewhere, with Liam Delap failing to make an impact.

Fired up for the match against his former rivals, the ex-Manchester City man lacked composure and quality.

Delap’s Performance in Numbers

| Stat | Delap |
|—|—|

Despite his effort in duels, Delap failed to test André Onana’s goal. His link-up play was also poor, losing possession 15 times and completing just eight accurate passes.

Liam-Delap-1

While Delap remains Ipswich’s top scorer with ten Premier League goals, his off-night was noted. East Anglian Daily Times journalist Alex Jones rated him 5/10, stating he “chased shadows after an early chance” and picked up a “needless booking late on.”

McKenna’s side now faces another tough away trip to Crystal Palace. Delap will hope to bounce back and rediscover his clinical touch at Selhurst Park.
