“South London is ours” – Crystal Palace defender hypes up Millwall FA Cup showdown

Tyrick Mitchell is determined to keep South London bragging rights at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace prepares for their FA Cup fifth-round clash against local rivals Millwall.

The Eagles secured their spot by defeating League Two side Doncaster 2-0, setting up their first home encounter with Millwall since 2012—a season that ended with Palace’s promotion to the Premier League.

Millwall, managed by Alex Neil, reached this stage after victories over Dagenham & Redbridge and Leeds. The last time these two sides met was in the 2022 FA Cup third round, where Palace emerged with a 2-1 win at The Den.

Looking ahead to the match, Mitchell told PalaceTV: “It’s one that we look forward to, and the fans look forward to. Just keep South London ours.”

Millwall’s boss was in attendance at Selhurst Park on Tuesday, where Oliver Glasner’s side secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Mitchell played a key role in that win, providing an assist for Eddie Nketiah’s first Premier League goal for the club.

Reflecting on the game, Mitchell said: “It was a difficult game. They had a few chances where luckily there was offside, but we always knew we were in the game.

“Even when they scored the equalizer, we knew we could come back. It was tough, but we’re just happy to have won.

“We know every time we step onto the pitch, we can create chances. Sometimes they don’t go in, sometimes they do. Today, we managed to score four, which is always a positive.”
