As Quinn Ewers prepares for the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the former Texas Longhorns quarterback is benefiting from the guidance of a Super Bowl-winning coach.
Ewers has been working with former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, McCarthy has been “impressed” with the young quarterback’s focus and commitment.
“Ewers has actually been working down in Texas with former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy, who I talked to on the phone yesterday,” Pelissero said. “McCarthy said he’s just been really impressed with Ewers as a young man and the attentiveness that he has. They’ve been talking football for hours. McCarthy says, ‘I’m like a kid in an ice cream shop just talking ball with Quinn Ewers.'”

Pelissero also noted that Ewers, who dealt with an oblique injury last season, is now fully healthy. He has reportedly added muscle to his frame and weighs around 215 pounds.
Projected as a mid-to-late second-round pick, Ewers has a chance to improve his draft stock with a strong showing at the combine. Working with McCarthy, who has coached elite quarterbacks like Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Dak Prescott, only adds to his preparation and potential.
