Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi is aiming for a European spot finish in the Premier League with his club, according to Soccernet.ng.
Alex Iwobi is enjoying his best individual season in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 26 appearances for Marco Silva’s Fulham.
The 28-year-old has featured in every league game this season, with Fulham currently sitting 10th in the table. With 12 games remaining, Iwobi remains optimistic about a strong finish and a potential push for European qualification.
Fulham have accumulated 39 points so far, trailing Newcastle United by six points for a UEFA Europa League spot. Despite the gap, Iwobi remains confident in his team’s abilities.
“Everyone is enjoying the ride, but we take it one step at a time. People say it’s a great season, but it’s not over yet. Hopefully, it ends up being a great one,” Iwobi said on the *Fulham Fix Podcast*.
The midfielder, who previously played in European competitions, is eager for another opportunity. “It’d be nice to get into Europe again. With the quality we have and results against big teams, we believe we can compete at that level next season,” he added.
Reflecting on his favorite European memory, Iwobi recalled his stunning goal against Chelsea in the 2019 UEFA Europa League final in Baku.
“It was a long journey, and I expected to start, but Unai Emery went with another lineup. I was disappointed but focused on making an impact. We lost to Chelsea, but scoring that goal remains one of my career highlights,” he said.
This season marks a milestone for Iwobi, as he has recorded double figures in goal contributions for the first time and set a personal best with seven league goals.
