£50m star sparks transfer buzz with photo holding Newcastle shirt amid Eddie Howe interest.

Newcastle United are set to give Paul Mitchell greater spending power in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Newcastle United’s summer transfer plans are taking shape, but they come with risks. The club is reportedly focusing on signing young talents rather than established stars, aiming to unearth the next big names across Europe. However, this strategy could backfire if the new signings fail to make an immediate impact, potentially leading to regression rather than progress. This approach follows last summer’s sale of promising prospects like Elliot Anderson, a decision that may come back to haunt the Magpies.

Alexander Isak’s Future
Star striker Alexander Isak has been at the center of transfer rumors, with Arsenal reportedly keen on the Swede. Despite YouTuber Chunkz playfully urging Isak to join Arsenal, the 25-year-old has expressed his love for Newcastle. The club plans to hold contract talks with Isak this summer, with manager Eddie Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell determined to keep their key players, even if they miss out on Champions League qualification.

Dean Huijsen’s Newcastle Connection
Newcastle’s interest in young talent is further highlighted by their admiration for Bournemouth’s 19-year-old defender Dean Huijsen. The Dutchman, on loan from Juventus, has impressed in the Premier League this season, showcasing his potential as a future star. Newcastle attempted to sign Huijsen last summer but missed out, and his performances since have only heightened their interest.

In a recent Instagram post, Huijsen was spotted holding a Newcastle shirt with Isak’s name and number, likely from a post-match swap. While Bournemouth secured Huijsen for £12.8 million last summer, Newcastle would now need to pay around £50 million to bring him to St. James’ Park.

Defensive Reinforcements Needed
With two defenders’ contracts expiring and Lloyd Kelly likely to depart, Newcastle are in need of long-term defensive options. Huijsen’s versatility, proficiency with both feet, and impressive stats—1.2 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, and 43.3 passes per 90 minutes—make him an ideal candidate to bolster their backline.

Newcastle’s failed attempt to sign Abdukodir Khusanov in January due to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) constraints has only increased the urgency to secure a top young defender like Huijsen. If the Magpies are to invest heavily this summer, Huijsen represents a smart and strategic choice to strengthen their squad for the future.
