Newcastle closing in on a freebie striker deal!

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is already eyeing summer signings, with the Magpies turning their gaze to Europe.

Newcastle United’s recent good form hit a bump with a strong performance from Manchester City, led by Omar Marmoush. Despite the setback, Eddie Howe is already eyeing reinforcements for the summer transfer window.

Reports suggest Howe is targeting Malaga striker Antonio Cordero, a player with an impressive record of 29 goals and 31 assists. Cordero, nearing the end of his contract with the Spanish Segunda Division club, could be snapped up on a free transfer.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey told *Geordie Boot Boys*: “Newcastle firmly think a deal is almost there. Obviously, you can’t say for definite until he’s holding the black and white shirt.” Bailey added that Cordero is a promising prospect, though he may not be a first-team player immediately. Newcastle will assess whether to keep him with the Under-21 squad or send him out on loan.

Newcastle’s focus on young talent is likely driven by Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which are pushing clubs to invest in youth. With few recent successes from their youth academy, Newcastle seems keen to develop players who can either contribute to the team or retain value for future transfers.
