“Robins: First Stoke Home Win ‘Not About Me'”

Mark Robins reacts to Stoke City’s crucial Championship win over Swansea.

Mark Robins allowed his Stoke City players to savor the moment after a significant comeback win over Swansea. The victory moved Stoke six points clear of the relegation zone in the Championship and just two points behind Swansea, with a game in hand. Goals from Wouter Burger, Bae Junho, and Lewis Baker overturned Josh Tymon’s opener.

Robins acknowledged that the team’s progress is ongoing but found encouragement in their performance. He praised their growing confidence and the smiles on their faces post-match. “They’re trying to shoot more, but we need to be quicker and slicker in the final third. It’ll come, but it takes time,” he said. He also highlighted improvements in set-piece deliveries and applying pressure on opponents.

The Stoke boss was pleased with the players’ celebrations, noting, “If this is how they celebrate a win, I can’t wait to win something bigger with them. You’ve got to enjoy it and understand what got you there.” He added that they should relish the win before refocusing for Monday’s training session.

This was Robins’ first home win at the bet365 Stadium after earlier draws against Plymouth, Oxford, and a penalty-decided FA Cup tie with Cardiff. However, Robins emphasized teamwork over personal milestones: “It’s not about me—it’s about us. We earned a deserved win with a good performance. The lads should take great pride because they were outstanding for most of the game.”
