Southampton winger Sulemana shined as the Saints’ top performer against Bournemouth, scoring on his birthday. Boss Ivan Juric believes the winger’s best is yet to come.
Bournemouth cruised past Southampton 3-1 at St. Mary’s, as expected. But with relegation all but sealed, it’s time to shift focus to the positives the Saints can carry into their next Championship season.
One of those bright spots is Kamaldeen Sulemana’s recent resurgence. After a season of struggle, Sulemana has transformed from a squad player to a vital piece of the team. His comeback was capped off with a left-footed stunner on his 23rd birthday—his first Premier League goal of the season.
Much of Sulemana’s improvement can be credited to Saints boss Ivan Juric. Despite the disappointing result, the Croatian manager praised the winger’s development. Speaking after the match, Juric told the *Daily Echo*, “Today he scored a great goal with his left foot, which means he can score with his right foot, with his left foot. I think he will be better every game.”
This praise serves as a meaningful birthday gift for Sulemana. However, the winger’s big day could have ended on a better note. After pulling the score back to 2-1 in the 72nd minute, Southampton’s defensive lapse allowed Bournemouth to seal the game with another goal.
Poor composure in closing stages has plagued the Saints for a while. As they prepare for their next campaign in the Championship, tightening up in the final moments will be crucial for their revival.
